Care is More Than Access, it’s Connection

The BEAM Wellness Directory is part of a broader movement to make healing accessible, culturally grounded, and rooted in community.

About BEAM

The Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM) is a national organization working to transform access to emotional health and healing for Black and marginalized communities.

BEAM builds ecosystems of care by training community members, funding wellness initiatives, and connecting people to culturally responsive support.

Our work is grounded in healing justice, a framework that recognizes the impact of systemic harm and centers collective care, resilience, and liberation.

Why this Directory Exists

Finding care shouldn’t feel overwhelming or misaligned.

Too often, people are left searching for providers who understand their lived experience, values, and identity.

This directory exists to make that search easier, more human, and more intentional, so you can spend less time searching and more time getting the support you deserve.

Part of a Larger Ecosystem of Care

The Wellness Directory is one part of BEAM’s broader work.

Alongside trainings, programs, and community resources, it helps connect individuals directly with providers who are aligned with BEAM’s values of care, cultural responsiveness, and community-centered healing.

This isn’t just a list—it’s a living network of practitioners contributing to a larger vision of collective wellness.

Frequently Asked Questions

For Wellness Providers (Submitting a Listing)

Do I have to be licensed to join the directory?

Not all practitioners in this directory are licensed clinicians. We welcome a range of Black wellness practitioners, including both licensed and non-licensed providers, as long as your work is rooted in wellness, care, and community support. Please clearly state your credentials and scope of practice in your submission.

Can I offer both virtual and in-person services?

Yes—but to be included in this directory, you must offer virtual services. You’re welcome to note any in-person offerings in your listing as additional information.

What kind of services can I list?

You can list 1:1 sessions, group offerings, workshops, consultations, or educational services—as long as they are available virtually and aligned with wellness and healing practices.

Can I update my listing after it’s approved?

Yes. If your offerings, availability, or contact information change, you can reach out to request updates so the directory stays accurate and useful.

Is there a cost to be listed?

No. This directory is a free resource to support Black wellness practitioners and increase access to care in our communities.

For Community Members (Looking for a Practitioner)

How do I choose the right wellness practitioner for me?

Finding the right fit is personal. We encourage you to explore providers’ specialties, values, and approaches—and to trust your instincts. You deserve care that feels safe, affirming, and aligned with your needs.

What questions should I ask before, during, and after working with a therapist or practitioner?

It’s important to feel informed and empowered in your care. We recommend reviewing our resource on what to ask before, during, and after working with a therapist to help guide your decision-making and advocate for your needs.

Are all providers in this directory vetted?

All submissions are reviewed for accuracy, but inclusion in the directory is not an endorsement. We encourage you to do your own vetting and ask questions to ensure the provider is a good fit for you.

What if I have a negative experience with a provider?

While we aim to share accessible wellness resources, we are not responsible for individual provider services or experiences. If a provider is not a good fit or you have a negative experience, we encourage you to discontinue services and seek out a practitioner who better meets your needs.

Do providers offer free consultations?

Some providers may offer free consultations, while others may not. Check individual listings for details or reach out directly to the provider to learn more.
